This time I will give a little review that you can make additional references to marriage papers that you might be working on, especially those relating to the notion of marriage.
To be able to understand the meaning of marriage, we must first know the meaning of the word “marriage” itself, both in terms of etymology (language) and in terms of terms (epistimologi).
In terms of language, marriage is an uptake of words taken from Arabic which comes from the word “An-Nikaahu” which means “Agreement to engage in relationships between men and women (marriage)”
Whereas according to the term, marriage (marriage) is defined as an agreement (contract) which justifies the association (marriage) between a man and a woman who is not Mahram, restricting rights and obligations and helping in between.
A marriage must fulfill the Terms and Pillars of Marriage. Because marriage is not valid if it does not meet the terms and conditions.
Understanding the Meaning of a Marriage in Islam
From the definition of marriage above, we can conclude that marriage is a firm agreement to live together between a prospective husband and prospective wife.
Allah commands every Muslim male to marry, this order is stated in the letter An-Nisa, Verse 3, the translation of which is as follows:
“And if you are afraid that you will not be able to do justice to the (rights) of the orphaned woman (if you marry her), then marry the (other) women you like: two, three or four. Then if you are afraid you will not be able to do justice, then (marry) only one, or the slave you have. This is closer to not persecuting.”
The benefits of marriage are not only a way to unite a pair of men and women in order to foster a married life and educate their descendants later, but also can be a way to open the door of introduction between a family and other families, between a people and other people.
The relationship between husband and wife must go well, love each other love and help each other between them. Because if the relationship between husband and wife is well established, then the good will move and spread to all the families of both parties, both the husband’s family and the wife’s family, so that they are united in carrying out all goodness and preventing crime.
